Leigh M. Snodsmith, LLC was established in 2016 to provide personalized legal services in the areas of contested and uncontested divorces, high and medium net-worth divorces, child custody, child support, grandparent visitation, orders of protection, contempt, post-divorce litigation, and personal injury. Leigh is a native of Tuscaloosa and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, with an emphasis in public relations and political science, in 1999.
Following her undergraduate studies, Leigh moved to Montgomery, Alabama to work on the Alabama Education Lottery campaign and then as a policy analyst and later Deputy Policy Director for the Governor of Alabama. She has also served as Constituent Affairs Director for the Lieutenant Governor of Alabama and as a lobbyist and legal extern for the State of Alabama Personnel Department.
While in Montgomery, Leigh attended law school at the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law. She received her Juris Doctor in 2008 and was licensed to practice the same year. During law school, Leigh was an associate editor of the Jones Law Review, a charter member and Justice (President) of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, and a member of the Christian Legal Society. She participated in the law school’s mediation clinic and completed the law school’s Alternative Dispute Resolution certification, demonstrating an understanding of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Process. Leigh received the academic excellence award for Arbitration in the Spring of 2007. She also served as a law clerk at Melton, Espy and Williams.
After law school, Leigh returned with her family to Tuscaloosa and began practicing at a small local firm in the areas of domestic relations, bankruptcy, and civil litigation. In 2016, Leigh opened Leigh M. Snodsmith, LLC in order to focus her practice primarily on the areas of domestic and family law. Leigh is dedicated to assisting the citizens of Tuscaloosa and the surrounding counties as they navigate one of the most difficult and emotional experiences of their lives. She recognizes that divorce is a complex, stressful, and sometimes lengthy process. She prides herself on providing client-centered, results-oriented service and works hard to ensure an equitable solution for all of her clients, whether at trial or through a negotiated settlement.
Leigh is a member of the Alabama Bar Association, the Tuscaloosa County Bar Association, and serves on the board of Turning Point Alabama, a non-profit agency serving victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. In 2016, Leigh was named one of the Top 10 Family Law Attorneys Under 40 in Alabama by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys (NAFLA.)
